Asheville’s Own Little Corner of Old Europe

Melinda Vetro, the woman behind all of the sweet creations and comforting atmosphere found at Old Europe, got her start learning to bake in pastry school while growing up in Hungary. After immigrating to the US with her then husband Zoltan, they toured the country together and eventually settled down in the mountains of Asheville, NC.

In 1994, the original Battery Park location of Old Europe was born. Melinda immediately established Old Europe Pastries as a staple in Asheville culture for locals and tourists alike, curating bold flavors and a warm atmosphere. Since then, Old Europe has moved a total of four times, finally settling in our current and final location at 18 Broadway Street.

Offering delicious and exciting pastries, strong espresso drinks (with locally roasted Dynamite Coffee!) and uniquely crafted cocktails, Old Europe is here to welcome you at any time of day!  We even offer gluten free and vegan options so that everyone can enjoy a little something sweet throughout their day.

Our family owned and operated business with deep European roots will always be delighted to welcome and serve you. We are very grateful to Asheville and look forward to the many more treats to be shared and years to come!
